Chasing the 4 of Clubs

Support the Clay County Fair with the Chasing the 4 of Clubs Fundraiser. It’s a progressive 50/50 drawing chasing the 4 of Clubs. Tickets are sold at the Clay County Fair office daily and at select locations on Wednesdays. Two winners will be drawn each Wednesday at approximately 7:45 pm.  Two weekly winners will receive a $50 gift certificate to the host location and have a chance of drawing the 4 of Clubs at the Grand Finale and winning half of the total event pot. Life Jacket Giveaway

May is National Water Safety Month. In celebration, Yankton County Search and Rescue (YCSAR) has teamed up with Yankton Medical Clinic (YMC) to provide youth life jackets to local families, free of charge. This event will take place on Thursday, May 23, at Riverside Park in Yankton from 6-8 p.m.

In addition to picking up one of the 300 new life jackets, local families can also enjoy a hot dog, chips and a refreshment with Search and Rescue team members and staff from Yankton Medical Clinic. You also can take part in educational activities, learn more about water safety with the Yankton County Search and Rescue members; Yankton Medical Clinic staff; Missouri River National Park Service staff; S.D. Game, Fish, and Parks staff; and Gavins Point Dam staff will be there to discuss water safety.

 

 Batting For Youth Make-Up Event

On Sunday, May 26th, the Yankton Tappers are hosting the Tabor Bluebirds at 6:00 PM for some South Central League amateur baseball action. The Tappers have generously offered to host the Yankton Morning Optimist Club’s Batting for Youth Make-Up Event during this game. The traditional activities will be carrying over that would have taken place during the May 6th game, such as awards, presentations, special announcements, and games in between innings.

Tickets for the original event will be honored at the May 26th game. Bring your family down to Bob Tereshinski Stadium at Riverside Field for a fun-filled evening of baseball and supporting local youth organizations!

The Dakota Theatre will be hosting a youth theatre camp for kids in kindergarten-12th grade. This camp is with the Dakota Players, an outreach of the Black Hills Playhouse.
Registration fee is $40. Rehearsals will run May 28-June 1 at 8:30 am with a performance on Saturday, June 1 at 7pm.

May Bragging Rights

It’s the first Bragging Rights of the year, happening on Thursday, May 30th! Support the community and non profits with your love of cars. Bring your classic car, motorcycle, or anything you have. River City Gymnastics will be the nonprofit host. Serving BBQ Pork Sandwich, Cowboy Beans, Macaroni Salad, Fruit, & Lemonade for a free will donation.

Bring your lawn chairs and come out for food, friends, music while supporting our community. Bragging Rights is located behind Missouri River Associates, at 124 Walnut Street in Yankton.

 

Movie at the Meridian

Bring your family and friends to enjoy the ​Movie at the Meridian on Friday, May 31st at Riverside Park. This completely free event includes inflatables & games beginning at 6:00 pm with the movie, How To Train Your Dragon (PG) at 9pm/dusk, plus free food and drinks.

Hot Dog Night & Street Dance

Enjoy some hot dogs and dance the night away while supporting the Bon Homme Youth Wrestling. Startz and Endz will be rocking the street on Hot Dog Night on Friday, June 7th. Live music from 7-10pm.

Yankton Ribfest

Yankton’s Ribfest is back again on June 8th, located in the downtown Meridian District on 3rd Street. Enjoy free admission & free live music. Ribfest will have a designated kids area with lots of activities including face painting, inflatables, & balloon animals. Food vendors will line the streets at 11 am to serve up great food. The amateur rib competitors will be providing samples for taste testing to vote for the People’s Choice Awards. Register for the Devil Dogs Hot Rods & Hogs show at 8am with show starting at 11am. The free outdoor concert will start at 11am with Reinvented Wheels, Rock Hardys at 2pm, Rewinder at 5pm, and Urbandale Lane performing from 8-midnight.
